It was a pleasure being a part of the Chocolate & Art Show earlier this month! I performed songs from my latest EP, a few singles, and covers! I even shared a few songs on the keyboard. It was a great night!
I've been a huge fan of H.E.R. ever since I heard H.E.R. Volume 1 and 2. The music was beautiful, relatable, and I loved the range of her voice. I had the pleasure of seeing her live at the One Music Fest this past Fall, and I was blown away! She played a few instruments, including the guitar and the drums, which was super dope. I'm so happy to see she won a grammy for Best R&B Album!
Performing at the Masquerade Heaven was one of my biggest shows to date. RAW Artists is an international independent arts organization, and they booked for Holiday RAWk right when I was wrapping up my third studio project. Most of the songs had been recorded, and I was pretty much in the mixing phase of it all. I thought this would be the perfect event to showcase my upcoming EP.
Preparing for the show was a major task that I was up for! I had a great time preparing the show with my band members. We really worked out the details of each song, and it was so worth it. In addition to getting the live show right, I was also having photoshoots, getting the cover art made, and creating content. There's a lot that goes into releasing music, and as an indie artist, you really learn to get down and dirty with it all. The day of the show was spectacular. Call time was at 4pm, where I took advantage of every moment to prepare my merchandise table. Our sound check was at 6:30pm. Shortly after, I rushed off to get dazzled and mentally prepare to perform at an 800+ venue. The show was amazing! The band and I were in sync like never before, and everything just flowed. I had a great time sharing my original songs, and seeing so many familiar faces in the crowd. I'm so grateful to everyone who came out and supported. The band members accompanying me were Seef (drums), Jamila (keys), John (guitar), Moe (bass). Recap Videography and edit credit goes to William Archetype. This performance was a pretty unforgettable night. Mainly because I caught a horrible cold and lost my voice. I wouldn't sing any high notes. I pushed so hard to get through this song. My band didn't even notice! They played so well that night. It was a vibe! Although I didn't get to sing all the songs I had prepared in my set, the band and I had a great time at nearby tavern!
